Tournament
New Wave 14-1 third and final qualifier, seeded third again. Our first match against Impact, we came out strong, matching points or points until we started to pull away at the end. Our girls did not play well in the second game against Impact and had to play the third game. During the third game, we didn’t play well in the beginning but came back strong and took the lead but we lost 15-13 at the end.
Second match against Golden West, we did not play well at all and lost both games.
Third and final match vs. TCA, we play much better as a team. We won both games easily. Over all we did play well even thought we were missing three of our other players. Our team needs everyone to contribute to be successful. We are proud of our girls at this moment, we have a lot of room for improvement. We will continue to work hard on individual and team skills. We are starting our season at Division #3.
Our team showed that we can compete against any team in So. Cal. Next tournament is at San Diego on March 2.
Coach Sam
Despite having two players out due to illness, the New Wave 14-2 team continue their climb up the ladder by winning 2 of 3 matches on Saturday, March 9, at the ASC. Still searching for consistent play, the team manages to make every game interesting leading to a sighting of smoke coming out of the coaches ears. But we did manage to pull out a victory in the last match against Cal Heat. After losing the 1st game, the girls showed great heart by squeezing out two victories to go home winners. We have a few weeks before our next tourney and we should take advantage of this practice time by working hard at developing our individual skills and more consistency.
